The Angel Inn is a sprawling, five-story pub and inn that exudes both grandeur and intrigue. This atmospheric TTRPG battle map brings to life a massive, labyrinthine hotel brimming with mystery and suspense at every turn. While the public areas boast luxury and refinement, the hidden spaces tell a different story—one of secrets, betrayal, and dark intentions. From a concealed chamber in the basement to a clandestine rooftop shanty village, every creaking floorboard and dimly lit servant’s chamber invites discovery, investigation, and, when necessary, swift justice.

Plot Hook: A Theft, A Portrait, and Unraveling Secrets

Sir Oliver Cromwell, the inn’s wealthy and influential owner, has hired the heroes to uncover the identity of a cunning thief. Priceless paintings and valuables have vanished, but nothing stings more than the loss of a beloved portrait of his late wife, Margret. Desperate and furious, he will spare no expense to recover it.

However, the theft is merely the surface of the Angel Inn’s tangled web. Behind the scenes, tensions among the servants are rising—some have turned to stealing, but why? Rumors swirl, alliances shift, and the wrong death—whether a noble or a servant—could spark a cover-up that exposes long-buried truths.

This battle map pack beckons you to weave a tale of mystery, deception, and high-stakes intrigue—one your players won’t soon forget.

Points of Interest

1st Floor – A Tale of Two Taverns

The Angel Inn caters to all, but not all are welcome everywhere. The gentry’s pub is an elegant affair—velvet drapes, polished oak tables, and soft candlelight illuminating whispered deals over fine wine. Meanwhile, the commoners’ pub is alive with raucous laughter, the scent of cheap ale, and the occasional brawl that leaves the floorboards sticky with blood. A careful observer might notice certain figures move freely between both, belonging to neither world yet influencing both.

2nd Floor – A Place to Rest… Or Scheme

The coffee room is where secrets are traded over steaming cups of imported brew, the air thick with pipe smoke and veiled threats. The serving room is the heart of the inn’s operation, where orders are barked, plates are piled high, and servants exchange gossip that could topple the powerful. The guest sleeping quarters range from comfortable to barely livable, and some doors remain shut for reasons beyond simple vacancy.

3rd Floor – Privilege and Power

The Owner’s VIP suite is a lavish, sprawling residence filled with opulent furnishings, locked cabinets, and a grand fireplace where more than just logs have been burned. Connected to it is a tower study, a private retreat where Sir Oliver Cromwell retreats to brood over his losses—both financial and personal. A balcony smoking lounge offers a quiet reprieve, though many a deadly scheme has been hatched over cigars and brandy. The servants' quarters here are a world apart from the ones below—though not different looking, the servants that call this room home are those closest to power. They can cleverly curry favor or implant schemes into unsuspecting gentry.

4th Floor – The Forgotten and the Watchful

Hidden from the eyes of the gentry, a shanty town has taken root atop the Angel Inn, a haphazard cluster of makeshift homes built by those who have nowhere else to go. These rooftop dwellers see and hear everything, and their loyalty can be bought… for the right price. The tower study, connected to the Owner’s VIP suite, holds more than just books—it holds the weight of history, of deals made in blood, and of letters that were never meant to be read.

Basement – Shadows and Secrets Below

Beneath the Angel Inn, dimly lit stone corridors stretch into the unknown, each turn concealing its own secrets. The gambling den, an exclusive retreat for the gentry, is filled with the soft rustle of playing cards, the clink of coins, and the occasional burst of laughter or frustration. Here, the wealthy indulge in high-stakes games while being served fine drinks, unaware—or perhaps uncaring—of the struggles taking place just beyond their lavish tables.

But deeper in the basement lies something far more intriguing. A hidden chamber, long forgotten by all but a few, holds cots, battered containers, and stolen paintings—among them, the very portrait of Margret Cromwell that Sir Oliver is so desperate to recover. Dust swirls in the dim lantern light, and the air is thick with secrecy. At the far end of the room, an old storm cellar door looms, leading even further beneath the inn. Where it goes and what lies beyond… that is a mystery waiting to be uncovered.

Meanwhile, the rest of the basement hums with daily activity. The kitchen and food storage are bustling with cooks and servants, though some supplies always seem to vanish before reaching the dining tables above. The beer cellar holds endless barrels of ale, but whispers suggest that one particular cask conceals something far more valuable than drink. The servants' quarters here are a stark contrast to those above—cold, cramped, and filled with weary souls who know more about the inn’s secrets than they dare to admit.
